1801 - To all people to whom these presents shall come, greetings. Know ye that I Jesse Pipkin of the county of Lenoir and State of North Carolina, for and in consideration of natural love, goodwill and affection that I have and do bequeath to my son Elisha Pipkin for other good causes have given executed and made over unto him the said Elisha Pipkin the following situated lying and being in the county of Wayne and Lenoir and on the south side of Neuse River, a survey of one hundred and fifty acres granted to me the said Jesse Pipkin the 27th day of October 1799 on the north side of Panther Creek beginning at a pine in Jonathan Benton's line and runs with the same North 70 East 40 poles to a black jack his own corner, then South 70 East 70 poles to a red oak Hines corner, then North 115 poles to a lightwood stake then North 70 West 175 poles to a pine and from thence a direct line to the beginning. Also one hundred acres being part of a survey granted to Bibbey Burk (Bush?) the 24th day of October 1786 for two hundred and fifty acres beginning at a stake in the third line of said patent and runs South 52 poles to Needham Whitfield's corner and being the joint corner of the said patent, then West 35 East 236 poles to a pine his corner then with his other line North 72 poles to a stake in the seventh line and from thence across the patent to the beginning and one hundred acres more or less containing the land on the West side of Panther Creek being part of a survey granted to me the said Jesse Pipkin for 300 acres the 13th day of October 1765, beginning in the giving line of the patent at the intersection of a small branch to the north of Francis Benton's plantation and runs down the __ of the same to the west prong of Panther Creek, then down the meanders of the same to the mouth of Huckle Berry branch, then up the meanders of Huckle Berry branch to the patent line and then with patent line to the beginning. The whole containing by estimation 350 acres more or less...this 13th day of February 1801.

This indenture made & issued the 27th day of March one thousand eight hundred and forty one between Willis Pipkin of the same state and county aforesaid on the one part and William B. Edmundson and Julia Ann Edmundson his wife of the same State and County of Wayne of the other part. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of eight hundred dollars to them in hand paid by the said Willis Pipkin we have bargained sold and delivered & by these presents do bargain sell and deliver unto him the said Willis Pipkin his heirs, & assigns forever one ___ lain tract or parcel of land situated & lying in the County of Duplin on both sides of Poley Bridge Branch, beginning at a Gum & Poplar running S 78 W 112 poles thence S 54 poles thence S 34 W 46 poles to a pine thence W 30 W 16 poles to a stake thence West 12 poles to a pine thence N 5 E 175 poles to a stake thence N 90 poles to a pine, thence South 49 poles to a stake thence S 72 E 136 poles to a Poplar thence a dued? line & to the beginning containing 396 acres be the same more or less to have and to hold unto him the said Willis Pipkin his heirs & assigns forever & we the said William B. Edmundson & Julia Ann Edmundson, his wife do warrant forever defend the title of said land to be free and clear from all & every person or persons unto him the said Willis Pipkin his heirs & assigns forever.

Edmundson, Julia A. Edmundson his wife the grantors to the foregoing deed & in the presence of the other acknowledge the due execution of the same for the purpose therein set forth & contained & at the same time & place the sd Julia A. Edmundson on being by me first privately examined separate & apart from her said husband declared that she executed the same freely voluntarily & of her own accord without any fear coercion compulsion of her said husband & now assents to the same - Set the said deed with this certificate to be registered according to law.

1785 - Jesse Pipkin Land Grant - one hundred and fifty acres of land in Duplin County on the east side of Buck Marsh joining his own land. Beginning at a gum on the run of Buck Swamp a little above the fork and runs So 85 Et 32 poles to a pine his own corner and runs with his line So 5 Wt 144 poles to a maple his own corner, thence with his other line So 85 Et 160 poles to a pine, thence So 5 Wt 104 poles to a black jack on Cartors line, thence with his line So 64 Wt 116 poles to a stake on the run of the marsh, thence the run meanders up the beginning.

Whereas, Lewis Pipkin hath produced a deed of conveyance made to him from Lucretia Herring of a certain tract or parcel of land, lying and being in the county of Cumberland in the State of North-Carolina, and procurred the same to be Registered by [blank] in the Court of Pleas and Quarter-Sessions of our county of Cumberland and it being represented to our said Court that Lucretia Herring wife of the said Jacob Herring is so infirm that she cannot travel to the said Court of our said County of Duplin to be privily examined as to her free consent in executing the said conveyance: therefore we command you, or any two of you, that at such certain day and place as you shall think fit, you go to the said Lucretia Herring if she cannot conveniently come to you, and privily and apart from her husband, examine her the said Lucretia Herring whether she executed the said conveyance freely and of her own accord, without fear or compulsion of the said Lucretia Herring her husband; and the examination being distincly and plainly wrote on the said deed, or on some paper annexed thereto, and when you shall have so taken the said examination, you are to send the same closed up, under the seals of you or any two of you, together with this writ, unto our said Court to be held for the said County of Duplin on the 4 Monday of May next ensuing, in the year of our Lord, 1821.

1801 - To all people to whom these presents shall come, Greetings, Know ye that I Jesse Pipkin of the county of Lenoir and State of North Carolina for and in consideration of the natural love, goodwill and affection that I have and do bequeath to my son Elisha Pipkin for other good ___ have given Executed and made over unto him the said Elisha Pipkin his heirs assigns forever the following messages, tracts or parcel of land situated lying and being in the county of Wayne and Lenoir and on the south side of Neuse River, a survey of one hundred and fifty acres granted to me the said Jesse Pipkin the 27th day of October 1799 on the north side of Panther Creek beginning at a pine in Jonathan Bentons line and runs with the same North 70 (degrees) East 40 poles to a black jack his own corner then South 70 East 70 poles to a red oak Hines corner then North 115 poles to a lightwood stake then North 70 West 175 poles to a pine and from thence a direct line to the beginning.
Also one hundred acres being part of a survey granted to Bibby Bush the 24th day of October 1786 for two hundred acres beginning at a stake in the third line of said patent and runs South 52 poles to Needham Whitfield's corner and being the joint corner of the said patent, then West 32 poles to a pine Lewis Hines corner thence with his line South 44 poles to a black jack near Jesse Pipkin line then with his line West 35 East 236 poles to a pine his corner then with his other line North 72 poles to a stake in the seventh line and from thence across the patent to the beginning.
And one hundred acres more or less containing the land on the West side of Panther Creek being part of a survey granted to me the said Jesse Pipkin 300 acres the 13th day of October 1765 beginning in the giveing? line of the patent at the intersection of a small branch to the north of Francis Bentons plantation and runs down the ___ of the same to the west prong of Panther creek now called Panther Branch, then down the meanders of the same to the mouth of the Huckle Berry branch then up the meanders of Huckle berry branch to the patent line and then with the patent line or lines to the beginning.
The whole containing by estimation 350 acres more or less, to have and to hold this aforesaid land and premises with all the improvements, privileges, conveniences of advantages to the same belonging or in anywise appurtaining unto him the said Elisha Pipkin, his heirs assigns forever and I the said Jesse Pipkin __ and forever defend all my rights title claims or demands of the same to him the said Elisha Pipkin his heirs and assigns forever against all persons claiming the same by for or under ___. In witness whereof I the said Jesse Pipkin have herewith set my hand and affixed my seal this 13th day of February 1801.

Know all men by these presents that I Jacob Herring of the county of Wayne and State above mentioned to bind myself my heirs executors administrators and assigns for a bond of four hundred dollars to make a right to a certain piece or parcel of land to Lewis Pipkin of the County & state above mentioned the land lying and being in the county of Cumberland and State of North Carolina on the upper side of upper little river between that and Cape Fear River it being the undivided interest of my wife Lucretia in a piece of land left to her by her share from her father Elisha Pipkin dec'd the conditions of this bond is that after said Jacob Herring together with his wife do make and bequeath to the said lands to Lewis Pipkin the name above mentioned after it is divided this bond of word and ___ affected the said Jacob Herring have hereunto set my hand and affix my seal this the 7 day of February 1825

1831 - Know all men by these presence that I Mark Keathley have bargained and sold my wife Elizabeth land in the County of Cumberland it being the hole of her heirship of the lands of the estate of Elisha Pipkin dec'd her father for an in consideration of the sum of two hundred one dollars to me in hand paid for which consideration I do bind myself heirs executors and assigns in the sum of four hundred and fifty dollars to make aright to Lewis Pipkin to the said land when my wife Elizabeth comes of age to assign with me which will be same time in the year 1832
The conditions of the above obligations is such that if the above mentioned Mark Keathley and his wife Elizabeth does make a lawful right these then void other wise to remain in full force and virtue this 14th March 1831

1854 - Land Sale in North Carolina - The Fayetteville Observer of the 16th [January]
The home place of the late Stewart Pipkin, 20 miles from this town, on the Raleigh road, 145 acres, with a small dwelling and good out-houses, was sold Thursday last at $19.25 per acre. This was an unexpectedly high price; showing that real estate is decidely appreciating in this part of the State.

1859 - This indenture entered into this the 12th day of October A.D. 1859 between Hamy Keathley of the County of Gibson and State of Tennessee of the one part and Lewis Pipkin of the County of Harnett and State of North Carolina of the other part, Witnesseth that I, Hamy Keathley for and in consideration of the sum of fifty dollars to me in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have given granted bargained sold quitclaimed and released and by these presents do give grant bargain sell quitclaim and release unto the said Lewis Pipkin his heirs executors administrators and assigns all my right title interest or claim in the lands of Elisha Pipkin deceased remaining undivided lying and being in Harnett County North Carolina between the waters of Cape Fear and Upper Little Rivers and joining the lands of Neill McDougald and others, and I, Hamy Keathley do hereby bind myself my heirs executors administrators and assigns to warrant and forever defend the aforesaid premises unto the said Lewis Pipkin his heirs executors administrators and assigns against all claims or demands whatsoever In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and date above written Hamy X Keathley {Seal} Signed, Sealed and delivered in the presence of J.W.
