At a Superior Court of Justice begun and held at NewBern for the District of NewBern on Fryday the Eleventh Day of May in the Year of our Lord One thousand eleven hundred and Seventy; Before the Honourable Martin Howard Esquire Chief Justice of the said Province and Maurice Moore and Richard Henderson Esquires his Associates Justices of the said Court.

The Jurors for our Soverign Lord the King upon their oath presents that Joseph Pipkin late of St. Patrick's Parish in Dobbs County Planter on the Twenty ninth Day of September in the Ninth Year of the the reign of our Soverign Lord George the Third King of Great Britain France and Ireland &c With Force and Arms at the Parish aforesaid in the County aforesaid in and upon one George Walker in the Peace of God and our said Lord the King then & there being (on the Kings highway) did make an assault and him the said George Walker then and there did Beat wound and ___ so that his life was greatly Dispaired of and other wrongs and Harm then and there did to the said George Walker to the Great Damage of the Said George Walker and against the Peace of our said Lord the King his Crown & Dignity.
