In the name of God Amen, I Edith Pipkin of the State of North Carolina and County of Johnston being sick and weak of body but of sound and perfect mind and memory thanks be to God for the same and calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all once to die do make and ordain this instrument to contain my last will and testament in manner and form following.

I give and bequeath to my friend William Beard for his kindness to me in my afflictions the whole of my property - let it consist of whatsoever nature or kind it be with all wearing apparel except fifty-cents to him and his heirs forever.

I give to William Flowers my son-in-law fifty-cents to him and his heirs forever.

Lastly I constitute - nominate - and appoint my friend William Beard my executor to this my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 7th day of August 1827.
