William Pipkin - Matador, Texas - as published in Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, Friday, January 30, 1987 Services for William Neal Pipkin, 88 of Matador will be 2 p.m. Saturday in first United Methodist Church. Burial will be in East Mound Cemetery under the direction of Mynatt funeral Home. He died at 5 p.m. Thursday (29 Jan) in Lubbock's Methodist Hospital after an illness. He was born in Motley County on 19 Nov 1898, the son of Charles Dixon & Ida T Edmondson Pipkin. He was an insurance agent. He married Opal Estes on 23 Feb 1931 in Matador. He was a mason, and a member of the Lions Club, Easter Star and Roaring Springs Golf Club. He was past member of the Matador City Council. He was a Methodist. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Mitchell Neal of Lubbock, and William Gerald of Matador; a daughter, Patricia Ann Alexander of Freeport; two brothers, Cecil of Lubbock and Leslie of Lamesa; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
