Appeared in the Macon County Times, August 26, 1965 Lafayette, Tennessee OBITUARY FOR SAMUEL (SAMMY) EDGAR PIPKIN “Sammy Edgar Pipkin, 86, a retired farmer of the Coleytown community (Lafayette, TN), died Saturday, August 21, 1965, at Janwynella Nursing Home after an illness of two weeks. Funeral services were held Monday at Alexander Funeral Home, Lafayette, by Elder Goldman Davenport. Burial was in the Liberty cemetery, Lafayette, Macon Co., TN. He was a native of Macon County, son of Isaac and Melinda Marsh Pipkin. He was a member of the Liberty Missionary Baptist Church. His wife, Mrs. Effie East Pipkin, died in 1949. He is survived by four sons, Edgar Pipkin, Nashville; Carlos Pipkin, Detroit, Mich.; Fred Pipkin, Old Hickory; Dennis Pipkin, Lafayette; two daughters, Mrs. Ennis (Pearl) Coley, Lafayette; Mrs. Bert (Susie) Driver, Old Hickory; 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.” His Pipkin ancestors were: John Sr., b. abt. 1675 – d.
