This Indenture made this twentieth day of October one thousand seven hundred and eighty seven between Phillip Pipkin, Asa Pipkin and Isaac Pipkin of the one part and Joel Moye of the other part – Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred and twenty pounds lawful money of aforesaid state to us in hand paid by aforesaid Joel Moye before the sealing and acknowledging these presents the receipt whereof we hereby acknowledge and confess ourselves to be therewith fully satisfied, contented and paid have granted, sold and delivered and by these presents we hereby acknowledge that we have bargained, sold, aliened, set over, consigned and confirmed unto the aforesaid Joel Moye to him and his heirs forever a certain tract and parcel of land lying and being in the County of Pitt and in the fork of Little Contentnea Creek being part of several patents granted unto Luke White, James Macklinwayne and the aforesaid Phillip Pipkin as will more fully appear by having recourse to above mentioned patents.
Beginning on Sandy Run at the mouth of the Spring branch and runs with the various courses of the east prong of aforesaid spring branch to the old patent line thence north with said line to the corner a stake thence west 468 poles to a pine Woody Belshers and said Phillip Pipkin’s corner then south to Titas Carrs line then with said Carr’s line to Sandy Run then with the windings of said Sandy Run to the beginning – the above tract of land by estimation containing five hundred acres be the same more or less. To have and to hold the above five hundred acres of land unto him the said Joel Moye and his heirs forever and we the said Phillip Pipkin, Asa Pipkin and Isaac Pipkin for ourselves our and each of our heirs Exr’s Admr’s and assigns do hereby oblige ourselves our and each of our heirs Exr’s Admr’s and assigns to warrant and forever defend unto said Joel Moye his heirs and assigns forever the above mentioned five hundred acres of land with all and every part of the improvements thereunto belonging &c. In witness hereunto we have set our hands and fixed our seals the day and year first above written.
