Kansas City Times - August 17, 1981 Dr. F. Garrett Pipkin, 77, Clinton, MO formerly of Kansas City and a former orthopdic surgeon, died Friday, 14th, at the home. Dr. Pipkin was a surgeon in the Kansas City area 37 years before he retired. He had been on the staff of St. Joseph Hospital, Kansas City General Hospital, Baptist Memorial Hospital and Trinity Lutheran Hospital. He was a member of the Jackson County Medical Society, a former associate editor of the Jackson County Medical Bulletin, a former consulting surgical editor of Clinical Medicine and a co-founder and former president of the Spectators Orthopedic Corresspondence Club. He was a graduate of Washington University, St. Louis. He was a major in the Army Medical Corps during World War II. He was born in Kansas City, 22 Jun 1904, the son of Charles Morris, Jr. and Mary White Pipkin and had lived in Clinton since 1972. His wife, the former Maura Catherine Mahoney died 11 Jan 1980. He leaves a daughter, Mrs. Mary C. Nolte, Fairway; a brother, Charles Pipkin, Scottsdale, AZ; two sisters, Mrs. Katie Davidson, Kansas City, and Mrs. Elizabeth Chamberlain, Aspen, CO; and three grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Warsaw, MO - Cremation. [Francis Garrett Pipkin was great-grandson of Philip Pipkin, Jr., son of Colonel Philip Pipkin.]
